Nexus of Water, Energy, & Sustainability
The Nguyen lab is committed to leading transformative initiatives in chemistry, sustainable energy, focusing on areas such as water harvesting, hydrogen production, and various energy-related applications. Our mission is to create novel materials to advance science and technology; mitigate climate change; and foster a cleaner future for all.

Water Harvesting

The Nguyen lab is interested in diving deep into the applicability of reticular structures for water harvesting to lower the energy needed to desorb water. This research direction aims to find efficient ways to enhance water adsorption-desorption cycling performance.

Critical Ion Capture

The Nguyen lab employs reticular chemistry to design porous polymers with optimal pore structure for Li ion capture. Our designed polymers can be degraded by depolymerization under suitable conditions to regenerate the starting material, effectively closing the material cycle and enhancing system sustainability.

Catalysis

Catalysis is an important field of chemistry. It plays a critical role in nature, life, and industry. At the Nguyen lab, we pursue advanced chemistries to design catalysts that effectively generate hydrogen from water which helps minimize the dependence on fossil fuels in the future.
