Course of fire

 

FIRING RANGE PROCEDURE FOR LIVE FIRE

The course of fire shall be 50 rounds minimum two handed from the standing position. Instructors may make provisions for persons with physical disabilities which preclude them from firing from a standing or two-handed positions.  Instructor may also choose alternate hand positions during the instructor choice portions.

THREE YARD LINE  (20 rounds).  On command the student will load their handgun with 5 rounds.
1.      One round at a time on command.  Repeat until 5 shots have been fired.
2.      On command fire five rounds at a time with the strong hand
3.      On command fire fiver rounds at a time with the weak hand.
4.      On command fire five rounds at a time with the strong hand.
On command the student will open the cylinder or pull back the slide, unload the handgun and verify the handgun is unloaded.

FIVE YARD LINE (20 rounds).  On command the student will load their handgun with 5 rounds.
1.      One round at a time on command.  Repeat until 5 shots have been fired.
2.      On command fire five rounds at a time with the strong hand
3.      On command fire fiver rounds at a time with the weak hand.
4.      On command fire five rounds at a time with the strong hand.
On command the student will open the cylinder or pull back the slide, unload the handgun and verify the handgun is unloaded.

SEVEN YARD LINE (10 ROUNDS).  On command the student will load their handgun with 5 or 10 rounds.
1.      On command fire two rounds. Continue on command with two rounds at a time until the hand gun is empty. If using a 5-shot handgun repeat for a total of ten rounds.

On command the student will open the cylinder or pull back the slide, unload the handgun and verify the handgun is unloaded. Upon competition the instructor will inspect every student’s handgun and insure it is empty and safe.  The empty handgun will be placed and secured in a case or holster before leaving the firing line.
