Undergraduate Opportunities

Are you a Tech student studying chemistry, chemical engineering, environmental chemistry, computational chemistry or physics, physics, computer science, mechanical engineering or adjacent fields?

Our interdisciplinary lab will provide you with meaningful research experience at the intersection of multiple fields in order to investigate novel questions related to astrochemistry and atmospheric chemistry. To do this we are utilizing custom python codes, 3D printed stands, and cutting-edge microwave electronics in order to conduct this research.

  • Build scientific instruments from the ground up
  • Learn about high-vacuum systems, vacuum pumps, and radio-frequency circuitry
  • Gain programming skills in Python and LabVIEW
  • Work with optical cavities, CAD design, 3D modeling, and 3D printing
  • Explore advanced concepts involving lasers and photochemical processes
  • Apply quantum mechanics to analyze and interpret spectroscopy data
  • Gain hands-on experience with spectroscopy-based analytical instruments such as UV-Vis, FTIR, and Raman spectroscopy
  • Get involved in an exciting project with the local wine industry, applying scientific
    techniques to real-world challenges!
  • students can participate as little as one afternoon per week or as often as they want
  • full or part-time paid work available over the summer
