{"id":105,"date":"2020-07-15T19:27:00","date_gmt":"2020-07-15T19:27:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/aprilcrockett.fun\/?p=105"},"modified":"2020-07-15T19:27:00","modified_gmt":"2020-07-15T19:27:00","slug":"women-and-minorities-in-computing-endowed-scholarship-for-computer-science","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.tntech.edu\/csc-diversity\/2020\/07\/15\/women-and-minorities-in-computing-endowed-scholarship-for-computer-science\/","title":{"rendered":"Women and Minorities in Computing Endowed Scholarship for Computer Science"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Women and Minorities in Computing Scholarship for Computer Science provides financial aid to underrepresented groups in an attempt to improve retention of these diverse students in Computer Science.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Eligibility:<\/strong>  Any student who meets the following criteria will be eligible to receive a scholarship through the Women and Minorities in Computing Scholarship Endowment:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Must be a regularly admitted freshman or current student in good standing in accordance with current institutional policies<\/li><li>Must be a female student of any race, or a male student defined as minority by the University (i.e. black, Hispanic, American Indian, or Alaska native)<\/li><li>Must be majoring in Computer Science in the College of Engineering or Business Information Technology in the College of Business.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>History:<\/strong>  In 2018 Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee awarded a $50,000 grant for the Diversity Scholarship aimed at putting women and minorities on track for a career right out of college into fields that are in high demand, such as Computer Science.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Women and Minorities in Computing Scholarship for Computer Science provides financial aid to underrepresented groups in an attempt to improve retention of these diverse students in Computer Science.
