Anchor – The place you draw the string.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Anchor Point – The place on your face where you draw the string<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Arm Guard – A device to protect the arm<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Arrow Rest – A device on the bow where the arrow rests during the shot<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Back – The side of the bow away from the shooter<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Bare Bow – No accessories<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Belly \/ Face – The near side of the bow while you are holding it in your hand<\/p>\n

Berger Button – A spring loaded plunger in the middle of the rest area to maintain even pressure as the arrow passes the bow.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Bolt – A short arrow usually under 22 inches used in a cross bow.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Bow – A device for casting arrows.\u00a0 Straight, recurved, compound and cross bow.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Bow Arm \/ Hand – The hand that holds the bow while shooting<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Bow Notches – The groves at the end of the bow where the string goes<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Bow Sights – Anything used to aim the arrow<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Bow String – The part of the bow that makes the thing work<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Bow Stringer – a device that is used to aid the archer in stringing a bow<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Bullseye – The 9 ring<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Cast – The act of propelling an arrow<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Center Serving – Serving in the middle of the bow string<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Clout – A game of archery at 180 yards with a 48 foot target<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Cock Feather – or Index Feather- The odd colored fletching that is at right angle to the bow<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Composite Bow – A bow made of more than one material<\/p>\n

Compound bow – A bow with cables and pulleys<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Creep – Partially letting down the draw before the release<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Crest – The colored stripes on the arrow<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Draw – The act of pulling the string back.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Draw Weight – The force necessary in attaining full draw<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
End – A set number of arrows. I this class it is 3<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Extend – The first part of the Draw. Push the bow outward first, then pull the string back<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Face – The near side of the bow while shooting<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Field Archery – Shooting at unknown distances at animal type targets<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Finger Tab – Any of the many finger protectors<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Fletching – The feathers or plastic on the arrow<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Flinch – The uneven movements that a lot of people have while shooting<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Flu-Flu – An arrow with extra-large fletching<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Follow Through – The last of the Nine Steps To the 10 ring<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Game – Several ends. Usually at the same distance. A Portion of a Round<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Glove – A device to protect your fingers while shooting<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Grip – The part of the bow where your hand goes<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Ground Quiver – A device attached to the ground to hold arrows while shooting<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Group – The pattern of several arrows shot at a target<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Gun Barrel – The high anchor position where you look down the arrow<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Handle Riser – The thick center portion of the bow between the upper and lower limb<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
High Anchor – An anchor above the mouth line<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Instinctive – snap shooting without aiming<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Laminated Bow – A bow that is made in layers<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Let Down – Letting the string down from draw without casting the arrow<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Limb – The upper and lower portion of the bow<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Loop – The hole at the end of the string that goes in the notches<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Low anchor – An anchor below the mouth line<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Mat – The large portion of the target that holds the target face<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
NAA – National Archery Association – the national governing body for archery in the USA<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Nock – The usually plastic end of the arrow that snaps on the string<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Nock Locator – A bump on the string used to place the arrow correctly<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Nocking Point – The place on the string where you place the arrow<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Peep Sight – A hole in the string used in sighting<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Petticoat – The portion of the target outside of the scoring area<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Pinch – Pinching the arrow while drawing<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Pluck – Pulling the string away from your face<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Point – the front end of the arrow<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Point of Aim – The place where you point while casting arrows<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Quiver – A device for storing an arrow<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Range – A place to shoot archery<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Rebound – An arrow that bounces off the target. It may count if it is observed<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Recurve – The portion of the bow that curves forward near the ends<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Release – A device used in drawing the string. And the act of letting the string go<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Round – Several Games usually at different distances<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Semi Recurve – Not as much recurve as a full recurve<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Serving – The thread around the string to prolong the life of the string<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Shaft – The large portion of the arrow<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Shaft Size – A method of selecting arrows<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Shelf – The bottom of the sight window<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Shooting Line -The line where you stand to shoot<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Side Quiver – A quiver on the side of the toxophilite<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Sight Pin – A part of the sight<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Sight Window – The flat, narrow, middle of the riser that allows the arrow to leave the bow straight<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Snake – An arrow lost in the grass<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Snap Shooting – Instinctive shooting<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Spine – The relative stiffness of the arrow<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Stance – The first of the Steps to the Ten Ring<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Straight Bow – No recurve<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
String Height – The distance from the pivot point to the string while the bow is let down<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Stringer – A device to assist the stringing of a bow<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Tackle – All the accessories of archery<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Take-down Bow – A bow with removable limbs<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Target Face – The colored part of the target.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Tips – Target, Field, Blunt, Fish, Broad head,<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Toxophilite – An archer<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Tune – Adjusting the bow for best flight<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
