Current Research

Structural Analysis

Nicholas Lawson

For his graduate master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Nick Lawson researched the compatibility of existing structural analysis programs. He tested the comparative effectiveness of each program to better understand and improve the market for structural analysis programs.

Seismic Sensors

Sam Fisher

Sam Fisher has placed seismic sensors on the new Ashraf Islam Engineering Building and is preparing to receive data from the sensors. By placing sensors on key column and beam locations, the building can operate as a seismic station for Tennessee Tech, providing live information for research that might influence future construction in the Cookeville area.

Bridge Load Rating

Andrew Moore

Andrew Moore conducted research with multiple Tech professors and the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) to work on the load rating of various bridges. His work was published as part of his Master’s degree.

CCBIM addresses four of the National Science Foundation’s ten big ideas, and our researchers work hard to implement these in their day-to-day work and ongoing projects.
