Colored Clay Vessels

This gallery includes a sampling of work done from the time I was hired at Tennessee Tech University’s Appalachian Center for Craft in 1994 until around 2006 when I stopped doing colored clay work.  I may take up colored clays again at some point, and still have a large library of solid-color and patterned loaves stored dry.  The images below are arranged in reverse chronological order showing my transition from the vessels at the bottom showing a primary focus on surface imagery and sculptural form, to the vessels at the top that return to my roots in utilitarian forms.  To read about the colored clay techniques I use, see the page on Early Colored Clay Work and scroll down below the images.  Email me if you have any questions.
